2016-17 seasons trip vacancies

by Richard Raby on July 29, 2016

Despite many enquiries for the Olympic games / para-Olympics period, when I will still be in England (and to be quite honest I don’t wish to compete for accommodation etc over this frantic period).  My agenda book for this season therefore still has a number of free periods starting  November 2016 until  March 2017. I’m free to organise and guide custom Birding, photography and Insect photography trips during this period.

It’s now the middle of summer in the northern hemisphere, and I’m working these months, as usual in Cambridge,  England, I get back to Brazil in late September.

I normally ask people to not leave these things  (trip enquires) till the last minute……but this season I can say that this is NOT a normal year and that enquiries for the season 2016-17 even now ” are welcome” and that I look forward to answering questions and quoting for your hastily planned last minute ideas !!!!!!!

Ok by now everyone has heard about the Zika virus and Microcephalia? I’ve been silent for too long

March 1, 2016

Confession; I’ve been rather silent on this blogg for too long. It’s not that I’ve been particularly lazy, it’s more like ALL of my spare time has been involved in another project, one involving rare butterfly conservation in and around my Lodge location at Marica. But after having a lot of success with this ” [...]

January 29, 2013

“Autumn” 2012 summary After working the Northern summer in Cambridge, England,  I encountered the unusually hot Austral spring of my 2012/13 season (with temperatures in the high thirties centigrade) as I arrived in late September. This rapidly changed into a more typical climate for the spring season until we entered into December…….. when it all [...]

September 10, 2012

During my extended time in the Marica Jungles photographing butterflies last season I made a few  interesting local bird records.  In late September I stumbled across a Flatbill in the dry streambed area (mentioned above as full of Ithomnid butterflies)that proved to be most interesting. I’ve never seen a Flatbill before in the Marica forests [...]

2012 season Part 1. Butterflies

September 10, 2012

With reduced demand for Birding tours for this season (probably reflecting the global economic crisis) I decided to apply myself to something that I’d been putting off for YEARS …. A serious study of the local Marica Lepidoptera fauna. Armed with my “new” 70-180mm Nikkor macro zoom lens and my trusty D300 Nikon camera  I [...]
